There’s a particular kind of satisfaction in giving a piece of jewellery that was planned, chosen with care and paid for without stress. It’s a feeling that doesn’t depend on having the full amount in your account today.
That’s why layby has been part of how we do business for so long, and why we’re glad to offer it.
How layby works with us
The idea is simple. You choose your piece, pay a deposit, and set it aside with us. You then pay it off progressively, in whatever rhythm suits your budget, until it’s time to collect.
It works for both kinds of pieces:
Pieces in stock. Found something you love? We’ll hold it for you while you pay it off.
Custom commissions. Want something made? We can begin the design process and take payments over time as the piece comes together.
Built around your date
We don’t hand you a rigid payment schedule. Instead, we work backwards from the day you’d like to collect.
Many of our customers layby a Christmas present or an anniversary gift two to six months ahead, then pay it off a little at a time. By the time the occasion arrives, the piece is paid for and waiting.
There are no set weekly or fortnightly instalments. We simply ask that we see a payment at least once every six months. Beyond that, we trust you to pay in the way that works for you.
Layby at Stones Diamonds is interest-free. You pay the price of the piece and nothing more.
Pay however is easiest
You can pay by bank transfer, in store, or over the phone. Most of our customers simply direct deposit into our account when it suits them, and we’re happy to give you the details and keep track on our end.
Why we offer it
We know the Australian economy has made things tighter for many households, and that pockets aren’t always full when a milestone comes around. We don’t think that should stop you from marking an occasion in a way that feels meaningful.
If anything, planning ahead makes the gift more thoughtful. You’ve had time to choose well. You’ve had time to make it right. And you haven’t had to stretch your budget to do it.
