How the dramatic increase in the gold price through 2025 is affecting our business, and what that means for you.
Why Gold Is So Much More Expensive
Over the past year, gold has surged to record highs. In early 2025, spot gold broke through US $4,000 per ounce for the first time.
Analysts point to a few key reasons: geopolitical instability, central banks buying more gold as a hedge, and investor demand for “safe-haven” assets amid global economic uncertainty.
In Australian terms, gold has reached unprecedented levels — As seen below gold has reached well over $6000 AUD per Ounce.
This isn’t a small, short-term blip — it’s a major shift, and for a business like ours, grounded in precious metals, the impact is real.
How Gold Price Increases Affect Our Jewellery
New Stock & Making Costs
Heavier gold pieces (rings, bangles, statement items) now cost more to produce because of higher raw material costs.
Custom designs also become more expensive: when we source more gold per piece, our production costs rise significantly.
These increased costs mean the prices on our website, which were set before this surge, may no longer reflect today’s gold value.
Custom-Made & Bespoke Orders
When making a custom piece, we calculate cost close to the time of ordering — but with gold so volatile, even that estimate can change.
For custom-making, we now need to factor in higher gold content, which pushes our manufacturing costs up.
As a result, some custom quotes may be higher than what has been typical in the past.
Repairs & Resizing
The cost of resizing or repairing gold jewellery has also gone up. For example, traditional resizing that might have cost around $100 now often ranges between $200–$250, depending on how much additional gold is required or removed.
This isn’t just labour — the metal itself has become more expensive.
Why We’re Doing Our Best to Keep Prices Fair
We understand that these changes affect you , our customers — just as much as they affect us.
For existing designs, we’re doing everything possible to absorb some of the increase, so we don’t pass on 100% of the cost.
For custom orders, we’re transparent: we’ll always clearly communicate any pricing adjustments due to gold changes, so there are no surprises.
A Note for Our Customers
Any price listed on our website is now more of a guideline than a guarantee.
Please enquire: For any piece — especially made-to-order or heavy gold designs — we encourage you to reach out for an updated quote.
Communication: We want to work with you. If you’re budgeting for a custom ring or resizing, we can discuss timing, design tweaks, or gold volume to help manage costs.
